Is the Neelsie Cinema Open?
The Neelsie Cinema is open to the Public and Students. The Public /Students may look at the venue but only with a staff member present. We have monthly curators who curate the screenings. The schedule is available every Monday on the NC Whatsapp channel and Beehive mail.
How do I sign up?
Sign-up for Neelsie Cinema Film Club is available through the QR Code and the tablet at the Cinema front desk. The Neelsie Cinema is also available for any party, event or conference. The person needs to email events@sun.ac.za. or visit the CECO website at www.cecoevents.co.za. They can also talk to the Venue Manager, Johan de Jager: johandj@sun.ac.za.
How do I watch Films?
Students need to subscribe to Pulp Film Society which is a student society. Options are full year, monthly. Non-students and the public need to sign up for Neelsie Cinema Film Club membership or buy combos. Only when you have subscribed/ bought a combo are you allowed to view the films.
How much does membership cost?
Students pay R550, Through My Sun. Neelsie Cinema Club have different membership options. All are to be paid via EFT or Yoco at the cinema bar. Combos are also available if an individual does not want to sign up as a member.
Is there any other cost involved?
No. A subscription gives you unlimited access to all the screenings from both Pulp Society and Neelsie Cinema Film Club.
Do you do a half-year membership?
No, unfortunately not.
Can I pay for one movie / single ticket?
No tickets are sold, but there are combos available at the bar. These combos allow for free movie access per person.
Do you sell Popcorn, Coffee, and Beer?
We sell beer, wine and Popcorn (according to certain dates and times). No hot Food allowed. Wine glasses and bottles are allowed in the cinema. No alcohol from outside is allowed, and alcohol bought at the cinema must be consumed in the cinema or the foyer. See on the website our bar prices on the What’s On page.
Who can I speak to about the film/ Pulp?
Public and Non-students need to send an email to neelsiecinema@sun.ac.za. Students need to contact Pulp Society if they want any other information.
Will Neelsie Cinema show sport?
No. Not at the moment.
